Which one should you choose?
RevisionDojo makes sense when you want to answer a question, ask for help and get feedback in the same study session. Its Question Bank page describes topic, paper and level filtering, worked solutions and Jojo feedback. Its separate Past Papers feature describes real exam questions with video walkthroughs.
Save My Exams makes sense when you want to read a clear explanation first, then practise questions organised by topic and difficulty. Its IB page explicitly describes exam-style questions with detailed model answers. That is useful practice, but it is not the same claim as a bank made entirely from authentic past-paper questions.
Neither is an automatic winner across your diploma. Pick one difficult topic in your actual course and compare the help you can access, the clarity of the answer and the work you can do without upgrading. A resource you understand is more useful than a longer feature list.
What is free on RevisionDojo?
RevisionDojo's free-plan help page says a free account does not expire and signup needs no payment card. It says the question bank and past papers are free to browse and write answers in. Marking an answer is a different action: Grade answer costs one energy.
At our 14 October 2026 check, the allowance was 10 energy each week, three notes, three lessons and five flashcard decks each week. The free plan also listed three essay markings and three Teach Jojo sessions each month. These are separate allowances, not a promise that every AI action is unlimited.
The detail most worth noticing is that the 10 question walkthroughs are a lifetime total, not a weekly refill. The help pages also distinguish free resource unlocks, which last seven days, from energy unlocks, which are permanent for that resource. If your revision depends on opening many worked answers, check the walkthrough limit before planning around free access.
The plan-comparison help page says Plus lifts the caps on energy, notes, lessons and flashcards, while Pro adds unlimited walkthroughs, essay marking and Teach Jojo, plus paid videos and other resources. The pricing page can present different term or exam-pass offers, so confirm the actual package at checkout rather than treating a help-page plan name as a guaranteed current offer.
What is free on Save My Exams?
Save My Exams is not simply paid-only. Its official free-access guide, updated 7 October 2026, says some resources can be used without an account, including one revision note per week. A free account provides more access, including a weekly notes allowance, limited exam questions and answers, unlimited flashcards and past-paper downloads where available.
Free papers do not mean free access to the entire teaching library. The same guide distinguishes Essential, which expands core notes and practice resources, from Premium, which adds unlimited model answers, Target Tests and assessment/feedback where supported, plus PDF downloads of notes and exam questions.
Its Help and Support page says free accounts can download past papers and mark schemes. Model answers remain on the site and cannot be downloaded or edited. If you want a printed pack with teaching explanations, check the answer format rather than assuming a PDF question download includes the model solution.
Resource availability is course-specific. The support page explains that some courses have only past papers or partial resources while content is being built. Check your exact IB course page before paying for a tool advertised elsewhere on the site.
Match the course before comparing explanations
Start with the full name: Mathematics Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation, then HL or SL. For sciences, check the syllabus edition and assessment year. A familiar subject name does not make an older paper or another level a perfect match for your exam.
RevisionDojo's IB directory separates Maths AA and AI and lists current science subjects. Save My Exams exposes separate AA HL/SL and AI HL/SL routes and course-specific science pages. Our source checks included its AA HL topic-question page and Physics HL 2023 syllabus page. That confirms those course destinations, not equal depth or identical tools in every subject.
When comparing one question, separate three kinds of help. A mark scheme tells you what earns marks. A worked explanation shows how to reach the result. AI feedback comments on the answer you entered. You may need all three, but an AI grade is not an official examiner's mark and should not overrule the paper's marking guidance.
- Check subject, HL/SL and syllabus before opening a practice set.
- Identify whether the question is an original exam question, an exam-style question or a predicted question.
- Try the question unaided, then compare the mark scheme, worked reasoning and any feedback separately.
- If feedback and the published marking guidance disagree, ask a teacher to resolve the point.
Where PastPaperPrep fits as a third option
PastPaperPrep is useful when the problem is finding authentic paper practice, not choosing a complete learning platform. The whole-paper archive at /past-papers and /past-papers/ib is free without signup. Choose the exact course and level, then a year, session and paper with its matching official mark scheme.
The topical question banks are a separate workflow. Guests can practise up to 20 matching free questions; a free account opens the rest of the free selection. Newer bank inventory and custom PDF exports require eligible bank access, with applicable allowances. Free whole papers do not make every topical question or export free.
Many questions across the IB banks have a published worked explanation. Coverage is not every question in those banks and not every IB subject. Explanations follow the same access gate as the question's mark scheme and are distinct from official mark schemes.
That makes PastPaperPrep a practical supplement: attempt a real paper, identify the topic that cost marks and practise matching real questions. It is not a replacement for RevisionDojo's coursework tools, a full notes course or a video teaching library.

A sensible buying decision
Choose RevisionDojo if its interactive practice and feedback help you keep working when you get stuck. Choose Save My Exams if its notes and teacher-written model answers make the topic clearer. Stay free if the available resources already solve your problem, and use PastPaperPrep when you need a real-paper archive or focused authentic questions.
Before buying, check the final currency, payment term, renewal rules and course-specific tools. RevisionDojo's billing guide says subscription terms are paid upfront and renew on the same cycle; exam-session passes are non-renewing. Save My Exams says offers depend on location, eligibility and account type, and payment is taken upfront. A monthly equivalent is not necessarily a monthly bill.
This comparison is based on the providers' public pages checked on 14 October 2026. It is not a claim that we tested every lesson, answer or paid account. We have left out exact prices and unverified download entitlements rather than turn a changing offer into a false promise.
Frequently asked questions
Is RevisionDojo or Save My Exams better for IB?
RevisionDojo is a better fit for interactive IB practice and Jojo AI feedback. Save My Exams is a better fit for syllabus-specific notes and teacher-written model answers. Compare one topic in your exact subject and HL/SL course before paying; neither is best for every student.
Are both platforms free?
Both offer free access with limits. RevisionDojo says question-bank and past-paper browsing and written answers are free, but AI marking spends energy and free walkthroughs are capped. Save My Exams offers selected notes and limited questions and answers, with available past-paper downloads through a free account. Neither provides its entire teaching and feedback feature set free.
Are their topic questions real IB past-paper questions?
Do not assume so. RevisionDojo describes its Question Bank as IB-style practice and its separate Past Papers feature as real exam questions. Save My Exams describes its IB topic questions as exam-style. Check the source identity of the resource you use rather than treating all question banks as original-paper archives.
Does PastPaperPrep have IB worked explanations?
Yes, on many individual questions across its IGCSE and IB banks. Not every question has one yet. Each explanation follows the question's mark-scheme access gate and is separate from the official mark scheme. The whole-paper archive remains free without signup.
